Star apple tree

Originally from the West Indies, the star apple tree can now be found throughout many tropical regions worldwide. This beautiful, tall tree with green and bronze leaves and fruit that resembles large, perfectly round apples is famous for its ornamental value. The fruit of the star apple has a pulp that produces sweet, white milk, hence its local name of "pomme de lait" ("milk apple") in the Caribbean and "vu sua" ("mother's milk") in Vietnam.
