According to legend, God pulled the baobab out of heaven and replanted it on Earth upside down because it was too proud. Hence the tree's "upside down" look, with its large, swollen trunk and gnarled branches that resemble enormous roots. The baobab is a symbolic tree of sub-Saharan Africa and, like the shea tree, is also known as the "tree of life". It stands out for its enormous size, incredible lifespan (some claim around 2,000 years) and multiple uses and benefits.

That's why we have always prioritized plant-based active ingredients sourced from organic agriculture, grown using sustainable farming methods that respect nature and soil health. Our baobab oil is organically-certified and obtained using a natural and environmentally-friendly extraction process. We source our organic baobab oil from a supplier who works with the Provincial Department of the Environment, Green Economy and Climate Change to set up tree-planting programmes. Since 2019, 450 baobab, African locust bean and moringa plants have been distributed among baobab oil producers in Burkina Faso.
