The kaki is an energy-filled fruit from China, rich in vitamin C and minerals. It looks a little like a fleshy tomato and is a pretty yellow-orange. It grows around the Mediterranean basin. Also called a persimmon, the kaki tree is mainly described in traditional Chinese medicine: it is known for its many benefits. Kaki root and bark from the stem are used to stop bleeding; the leaves are used to treat the cold. The fruit is known to help treat a cough (depending on how ripe it is), and its calyx is a known remedy for hiccups.
